Cupro Nickel & Monel Scrap |
|
Cupronickel (sometimes incorrectly written as "cupernickel" or "coppernickel") is an alloy of copper that contains nickel and strengthening elements, such as iron and manganese. A more familiar common use is in silver-coloured modern circulation coins. A typical mix is 75% copper, 25% nickel, and a trace amount of manganese. In the past true silver coins were debased with cupronickel. Despite high copper content, the colour of cupro-nickel remarkably is silver. It is used in thermocouples and the 55% copper/45% nickel alloy constantan is used to make resistors whose resistance is stable across changes in temperature. Monel is a trademark of Special Metals Corporation for a series of nickel alloys, primarily composed of nickel (up to 67%) and copper, with some iron and other trace elements. Compared to steel, Monel is very difficult to machine as it work-hardens instantly with heat and does not harden into a constant matrix. It needs to be turned and worked at slow speeds and low feed rates. It is resistant to corrosion and acids, and some alloys can withstand a fire in pure oxygen. It is commonly used in applications with highly corrosive conditions. Small additions of aluminium and titanium form an alloy (K-500) with the same corrosion resistance but with much greater strength due to gamma prime formation on aging. We deal in various grades of Nickel Copper Alloys such as Cupro-Nickel, Monel, Nickel-Silver, German-Silver, Chace, Eureka, Copel, CuNico, Constantan, Waukesha, Incramet800 etc.

| Cupro Nickel 90/10 scrap |
 | Cupro nickel is highly resistant to corrosion in seawater, because its electrode potential is adjusted to be neutral with regard to seawater. Because of this, it is used for piping, heat exchangers and condensers in seawater systems as well as marine hardware, and sometimes for the propellers, crankshafts and hulls of premium tugboats, fishing boats and other working boats. Most commonly used grade is C 70600, other known grade are C 70690, C 70700, C 70800 | | Send Enquiry |
| Cupro Nickel 70/30 scrap |
 | Applications for copper-nickels have withstood the test of time as they are widely used for marine applications due to their excellent resistance to seawater corrosion, high inherent resistance to biofouling and good fabricability. They are widely used in seawater system piping, condensers and heat exchangers in naval vessels, commercial shipping, multi-stage flash desalination and power stations. They have also been used as splash zone cladding on offshore structures and protective cladding on boat hulls as well as for solid hulls themselves. Mostly commonly used grade is C 71500, other known grades are C 71580, C 71590, C 71700, C 71900 etc. | | Send Enquiry |
| Monel 400/500 Scrap |
 | Monel's corrosion resistance makes it ideal for marine applications such as piping systems, pump shafts, seawater valves, trolling wire, and strainer baskets. Some alloys are completely non-magnetic and are used for anchor cable aboard minesweepers,[3] housings for magnetic-field measurement equipment, and have applications in the oil drilling industry. In recreational boating, Monel wire is used to seize shackles for anchor rodes, Monel is used for water and fuel tanks, and for under water applications. It is also used for propeller shafts and for keel bolts. MONEL® alloy 400 A nickel-copper alloy with high strength and excellent corrosion resistance in a range of media including sea water, hydrofluoric acid, sulfuric acid, and alkalies. Used for marine engineering, chemical and hydrocarbon processing equipment, valves, pumps, shafts, fittings, fasteners, and heat exchangers. MONEL® alloy K-500 A precipitation-hardenable nickel-copper alloy that combines the corrosion resistance of MONEL alloy 400 with greater strength and hardness. It also has low permeability and is nonmagnetic to temperatures as low as -150°F (-101°C). Used for pump shafts, oil-well tools and instruments, doctor blades and scrapers, springs, valve trim, fasteners, and marine propeller shafts.
Other common Monel grades are Monel 401, Monel 404, Monel R-405, Monel 501, 505, 506 etc. | | Send Enquiry |
